Honorable Character and Defining Character

Dear Parents,

I thank you for entrusting your darling child(ren) to my care during the 2009-2010 MDO year. I am blessed to be able to minister to and teach these great kids!

The goal of the Honorable Character program is to lay the foundation for building godly character in our children. It will likewise challenge you and your entire family to follow these Biblical principles! The program targets six areas designed to meet the challenges every preschooler faces. They are to listen, obey, work hard, tell the truth, share and to have self-control. There are scripture references that reinforce these characteristics.

In my classroom if your child(ren) show "Honorable Character" throughout the day they will get a sticker that will appear on the "All about my day" in the upper right hand corner. Likewise, if your child(ren) had 3 warnings in a day on a particular trait then it will be written in the upper right hand corner. If it is written it is the "Defining Character" trait that they will need to be working on with your help.

Thank You,
MDO Pre-k Teacher

Dear Parent,

I'm very happy to be your child's teacher this year! I've looked forward all summer to the time I'll have this year getting to know your child and sharing your joy as they grow.

I'd like to share a little about myself: My name is Debbie Van Campen and I LOVE preschoolers! I have two boys - Elijah, who is 2 and Evan who will be 1 in February. My husband, Travis, and I also have a dog named Zoe. Our favorite family activity is watching football or baseball together and going to church.

In our MDO class, we will discover some wonderful things about our world as we read, practice writing, do crafts together, learn how to add numbers and do patterns. My favorite thing that I'm looking forward to is when we do our monthly cooking activity.

I am praying for your child and family as we all partner together this year. I'm excited to share this experience with you and anticipate a tremendous year as the kids make new friends and get ready for Kindergarten!
